# Carbon Reduction Plan
Supplier name: Geodesea Ltd
Publication date: 1 January 2026
## Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Geodesea Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050 in the UK in line with UK Government procurement policy for Carbon Reduction Plans.
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been prepared for use in tender submissions and is intended to meet the core requirements of Procurement Policy Note PPN 006 (formerly PPN 06/21), which requires an in-scope supplier to publish a Carbon Reduction Plan when bidding for major public sector contracts.
## Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions, and they act as the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.
Geodesea Ltd is a small UK hydrographic surveying and geospatial consultancy. At the date of publication, a full historic organisational greenhouse gas inventory has not yet been formally completed for a prior reporting year under the PPN reporting format. In line with the government template, the first reporting period used for this plan will therefore serve as the baseline year.
Baseline year: 2025/26
Additional details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations:
The organisation will quantify and report emissions in accordance with the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, the Carbon Reduction Plan technical standard, and the relevant UK Government greenhouse gas conversion factors used for company reporting.
The baseline will cover Scope 1 emissions, Scope 2 emissions, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions for Carbon Reduction Plans. The subset of Scope 3 categories required under the policy includes upstream transportation and distribution, waste generated in operations, business travel, employee commuting, and downstream transportation and distribution.
Because this document is being prepared to support a tender and no completed verified inventory has yet been inserted, the emissions table below is provided as a tender-ready placeholder structure and should be populated with measured data before submission where the contracting authority requires a fully quantified published footprint.
| Emissions | Total (tCO2e) |
|---|---:|
| Scope 1 | To be calculated |
| Scope 2 | To be calculated |
| Scope 3 (included sources) | To be calculated |
| Total Emissions | To be calculated |
## Current Emissions Reporting
Reporting year: 2025/26
Geodesea Ltd will report current emissions for the same organisational boundary and methodology as the baseline year so that progress can be measured consistently year on year.
| Emissions | Total (tCO2e) |
|---|---:|
| Scope 1 | To be calculated |
| Scope 2 | To be calculated |
| Scope 3 (included sources) | To be calculated |
| Total Emissions | To be calculated |
## Emissions reduction targets
To continue progress towards achieving Net Zero, Geodesea Ltd will adopt annual carbon measurement and review, establish its first complete organisational emissions baseline, and set measurable reduction targets once the first full inventory has been completed.
Subject to completion of the baseline assessment, Geodesea Ltd intends to set near-term reduction actions focused on the operational emissions most relevant to a specialist survey consultancy, including business travel, commuting, electricity use, purchased equipment, and subcontracted logistics associated with field operations.
The Carbon Reduction Plan will be reviewed and updated at least annually, as required by the government template and associated guidance.
## Carbon Reduction Projects
### Completed and existing measures
As a small consultancy delivering hydrographic survey and geospatial services, Geodesea Ltd already operates with a relatively lean business model based on specialist project delivery, digital data handling, and targeted field mobilisation rather than large fixed-site industrial operations.
The following environmental management measures are in place or being embedded in normal operations:
- Use of digital deliverables, electronic data transfer, and remote collaboration to reduce paper consumption and unnecessary travel.
- Project planning intended to minimise avoidable survey mobilisation, repeat visits, and inefficient travel between sites where operationally practicable.
- Use of home-office and flexible working arrangements where suitable to reduce commuting-related emissions.
- Ongoing review of lower-emission vehicle and transport options for company and business travel activity.
- Procurement of equipment and services according to operational need to avoid unnecessary resource use and waste generation.[5]
### Planned future measures
Over the next 12 to 36 months, Geodesea Ltd expects to implement or develop the following measures:
- Completion of a formal baseline carbon footprint covering Scope 1, Scope 2, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions.
- Annual review of business travel patterns, with a preference for lower-carbon travel options where cost, practicality, and operational constraints allow.
- Review of electricity procurement and energy efficiency measures for office-based operations and IT equipment.
- Consideration of vehicle electrification or lower-emission fleet choices as vehicles are replaced.
- Greater supplier engagement, where proportionate, to understand embodied and logistics-related emissions in purchased goods and subcontracted services.
These measures will be in effect when performing public sector contracts and will be refined as quantified emissions data becomes available.
## Governance and publication
The government template requires a Carbon Reduction Plan to be updated at least annually, published, clearly signposted on the supplier’s UK website, and approved by a director or equivalent senior leader.
Geodesea Ltd will maintain this document under director oversight and publish the approved version on its UK website for tendering purposes.
## Declaration and Sign Off
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.
Emissions will be reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol Corporate Standard, and will use the appropriate UK Government emission conversion factors for company reporting.
Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions will be reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions will be reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and approved by the board of directors, or equivalent management body, of Geodesea Ltd.
